Now That “Blue Bloods” Is Over, Tom Selleck Hopes Taylor Sheridan Calls

Tom Selleck Blue Bloods

Tom Selleck officially said goodbye to his character of Frank Reagan as Blue Bloods ends its 14-season run on CBS. Tom, now 79, may be a bit greyer and a bit wiser since the show began, but he’s certainly not ready to retire. He has worked in show business since 1965, performing roles on both the big and small screens. Tom became a household name in the 1980s, playing Thomas Magnum on the hit show Magnum P.I. In addition to sniffing out bad guys on the beaches of Hawaii, he single-handedly inspired a generation of men to sport a mustache and floral shirt. Now Tom Selleck’s hitting that silver citizen stride and hoping to keep working. He jokes to Parade that he’s “unemployed” but hopefully not for long.

Tom Selleck Would Like To Change Gears

While he isn’t quite sure what the future holds, he’s positive about what he doesn’t want his next career move to be. “I don’t know where my next job will take me,” Tom said.  “People ask, ‘What do you want to do next?’ I’m not sure. I don’t want to do Frank Reagan II.”

Tom Selleck admitted that he hasn’t seen a ton of action, but things are percolating.  “I wouldn’t say [offers] are pouring in, but maybe some people are thinking of me.”

Tom added that he’d love to learn that Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is one of the people. He’s loved his time in the police drama world, but he loves a cowboy show.

“A good Western’s always on my list,” he told Parade. “I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again.”

We’ll certainly miss seeing Tom Selleck and the gang on Blue Bloods, but we can’t wait to see where he lands next. A cowboy hat and boots might be even better than a Hawaiian shirt and aviator sunglasses.
