Life is busy, and it’s all too easy to forget that halfway around the world, in Ukraine, people are still fighting for their lives.
Sophia Zich of Illinois has not forgotten. The 16-year-old from Illinois has been deeply moved by the stories and pictures emerging from the war-torn country. Over the 2022 holidays, she wanted to do something to help. As a singer and songwriter, she decided to write an original composition specifically for the children and families targeted by violence overseas. She shared her song, “By Your Side,” and started a UNICEF portal to accept donations. So far, her poignant tribute to Ukrainian families has raised over $7,000!
We hope Sophia’s sweet song serves as a reminder to us all. We can never forget the people struggling to be free, and we can all use our own skills and talents to do what we can to help.
