The Northern Lights Will Be Visible In A Few States

The July 30 aurora borealis won’t be visible to large portions of the United States as it has been recently. Instead, you’ll only get to see the northern lights if you live in parts of Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

If you live in a place where you can see the aurora borealis it’s recommended to get out to the country and away from light pollution and obstructions. If you can find a vast open space without trees, you’ll have the best chance of seeing the northern lights.

While some people use fancy cameras to capture images, it’s quite possible to get great pictures of the aurora borealis with a cellphone camera.

Northern lights photographer Owen Humphreys recommends viewing the aurora borealis to anyone who can.

“A clear and unimpeded view north is essential and finding a location away from light pollution will always help. Ideally, you will be underneath the auroral oval in the Arctic Circle, if you’re there, you always have a fantastic chance of seeing the lights,” Owen shared with The Aurora Zone.

“You will never see it sitting on your sofa so get out there and enjoy the night sky, and even if the sky does not explode with the Northern lights, just look up into the night sky and enjoy the stars and Milky Way, and meteors that can be visible,” Owen recommends.
