Today, Nicole Clemens is a 38-year-old mom and English teacher but when she was 14, she was a girl who loved gymnastics but “wasn’t any good” at it. Back then, she had a fear of the roundoff back layout because she didn’t want to hurt herself, and she didn’t want to fail. So, at age 15, she called it quits.
Nicole told TODAY Parents that about a year ago she started getting an itch to get back into the sport, so she signed up for adult classes. Before long she was back in the groove and decided it was time to face her fear of the roundoff back layout. Once she gained some confidence, she posted a video of herself doing the stunt – and totally nailing it. Her video is inspiring thousands and reminding people that it’s never too late to face your fears.
Watch Nicole’s feat in the video below, and be sure to share her inspirational story with your friends.
In the spirit of being freaking proud of myself and also knowing I'm about to be fat shamed on the Internet, I present to you me, a 38 year old mom and teacher, doing a thing I was afraid to do when I was a 14 year old gymnast. Next week: add a full (and straighten my legs) pic.twitter.com/4YpFRArgtd
