NFL Star Warrick Dunn Is Helping Single Parents’ Dreams Come True.

Former football player Warrick Dunn is making home ownership a reality for struggling single parents through one of his charities. Homes for the Holidays provides furniture, food, and other necessities for families with a single parent who are buying a house. The organization also helps with their down payments. According to the Warrick Dunn Charities website, the project’s goal is to “break the cycle of generational poverty.”

“Housing is the key to reducing generational poverty and increasing economic mobility,” explains the organization’s mission statement.

Of course, it’s about more than putting a roof over someone’s head. Warrick Dunn Charities is also helping “turn houses into homes for single parent families.”

“Your donations ensure that when our families move in, their new house is fully furnished (everything from beds to lawnmowers to toothbrushes) and the pantry is full,” the mission statement continues.

Warrick Dunn was inspired to start Homes for the Holidays in remembrance of his late mother, a police officer who always wanted to own a house. 11Alive tells us that this is why the NFL star is working so hard to help other single parents reach that goal.

Tanya, a single mom from Miami, received a life-changing present from Warrick Dunn Charities this Christmas. When she entered her new house from Habitat for Humanity, the athlete was also there with a surprise for her. His organization provided $10,000 worth of home goods and $5,000 toward her down payment! This is the 221st time Home for the Holidays gave a generous gift to a single-parent family in need, according to WSB-TV.

It’s so wonderful when celebrities use their wealth to make a positive difference in the world! Good for this former NFL player for paying it forward.
