With the help of New York City’s mobile pantry called Food Bank, the New York Jets defensive tackle helped his team hand Thanksgiving meals to hundreds of Harlem families in need this holiday season.
The Jets partnered with the organization to ensure people living in all the city’s boroughs had warm, healthy dinners. But they didn’t just help by serving the fixings.
Kayvon Thibodeaux gave Food Bank 250 turkeys through his Jream Foundation, which supports youth development. Other team members spread out to multiple locations to chat with those who sat down for Thanksgiving dinner, and Solomon Thomas was able to talk to one little guy who otherwise would have missed out.
A TikTok video of the conversation surfaced on the holiday. It showed Thomas serving up some delicious food to a young mom and her toddler son. Thomas tried to say something to the boy and his mom signed “he can’t hear you.” So Thomas began signing back.
The mother was stunned and touched when the NFL star started to effortlessly communicate with her deaf son, and it caught the attention of everyone in line, who cheered along.
In the comments, dozens of people praised Thomas for his thoughtful gesture, and everyone pointed out that he made the day for not just the boy, but also his mother. Others also commented that they’d met Solomon Thomas in person, and he truly is a warm-hearted person in every way.
