Weddings can make people much more anxious than usual. We’ve seen plenty of grooms with sweaty palms and brides fanning themselves before they walk up the aisle. Deciding to vow your life to another person until death do you part is not a light decision to make. Neil Crossley understands the pressure all too well. Father-of-the-bride Neil was supposed to walk his daughter, Amy Totty down the aisle, but got so nervous he took off without her. A staff member quickly redirected him, but it’s a moment no one will ever forget.

The Father-Of-The Bride Took Off On His Own

Yorkshire folk shared a video of the hilarious mishap on TikTok. Per People, Amy told South West News Service it was a miscommunication between her dad and the venue staff.

She said, “He thought they told him to walk when they had actually said wait for me!”

Amy said her dad’s timing made all the guests and her new husband, Harry Totty, laugh out loud.

“I especially appreciated it, as I was trying very hard not to cry and he helped me compose myself. It was a special moment none of us will forget,” Amy recalled to SWNS.

Thankfully, the father-of-the-bride is a good sport. “After the initial fumble, it just felt very funny to everyone, including myself,” Neil told SWNS.

He used the mishap later in his father-of-the-bride speech, “The joke I made about the guests thinking I was at the wrong wedding got a huge laugh, so everyone took it in good spirits.”

TikTokers also loved the mishap. They viewed the video 1.9 million times.

One wrote, “What a sweet memory  hey dad, remember when you walked down the aisle without me?!”

“I’ve heard of forgetting the rings but never the bride. God luv him Bride looked gorgeous hope they had more laughs throughout the day,” someone laughed.

Maybe this person is on to something. “He said, ‘I didn’t forget I just didn’t want to give her away.'”
