From the perspective of Jonathan Pope and his family, it was a normal evening. Both of the adults in the home, and the teenager, baby, and family dog were fast asleep. Meanwhile, a dangerous fire had broken out inside their home. There’s no telling how much time would have passed before any of them noticed. Thankfully, a hero stepped up as soon as he noticed the house fire.

This hero is one of the Pope family’s neighbors. As the flames grew, he made sure to bang loudly on their door, screaming for them to get out because there was a fire. Soon enough, everyone inside the home was aware of the danger. Needless to say, that was an alarming way to wake up. “The way the fire spread, that would’ve went to the roof and just spread around the house,” Jonathan explained. “By the time the smoke got in and penetrated drywall… We might not have had an escape.”
Brave Neighbor Becomes a Hero When He Alerts Family to their Growing House Fire
Based on the aftermath of this massive fire, that night most certainly could have ended in tragedy. Damage to the home is still visible, and it’s entirely uninhabitable. Now, the Pope family are staying in a hotel until they figure out how they’ll be moving forward. In other words, these circumstances are less than ideal. Still, this family has quite a lot to be grateful for, and they have a brave neighbor to thank for that.
“Be thankful for your neighbors, they’re out there. They’re really helpful. You never know what you’ve got either,” Jonathan said. “We were just casual [friends] before, and now he’s like a good friend, he saved my family.”
