Part of the fun in getting courtside seats to a basketball game is being so close to all the action. That said, the perks of these seats aren’t without potential dangers. During the Dallas Mavericks vs Boston Celtics game on Jan. 25, things got heated. In the battle for victory, it seems that Kyrie Irving attempted to make a cross-court pass to Jaden Hardy. But, in doing so, he accidentally hit a fan instead.

This young fan’s name is Asher. He was sitting on the Dallas bench, a front-row spot, when the incident took place. The ball hit him so hard it knocked off his glasses and hat. As you can imagine, both his parents were quick to make sure he was okay. But they’re not the only ones who took the time to check in on the injured boy — so did Kyrie Irving!

In the video above, we see Irving quickly approach the family, asking if he’s okay. A couple of other players also joined, including those from the opposing team. While Asher getting hit with the ball certainly hurt and was no doubt startling, his injuries were minor. Along with some pain, he did get a nosebleed.

“Is he okay? You alright, kid? Let me see,” Irving can be heard saying in the video. “Yeah, you good, bro. My bad, bro.”

In the end, though, Asher was able to go back to enjoying the game. He could even be seen cheering along many times throughout the night. So, while it’s unfortunate that the Mavericks did lose, 122-107, there’s no doubt that this game will go down in history for that little boy!

“That’s how you treat people, regardless of where you are in life,” one fan says in reply to the way Irving handled the accident, with another adding, “Kyrie has proven over and over again that he’s a stand up guy.”
