Jayson Tatum showed his sweet side multiple times this week. First, he ensured hundreds of homebuyers could afford their down payments, and then he gave a young fan the shirt off his back.

The Boston Celtics small forward started his day on Tuesday, Feb. 13, by sharing that the financial company SoFi had made a generous donation to the Jayson Tatum Foundation, which supports children, teens, and their families through education, athletics, and more.

SoFi gifted the foundation $1 million, and Jayon announced that he would be using all of that money to help families in his hometown of St. Louis purchase houses.

“I can’t stress enough how excited I am just knowing how many lives and the families that we can impact,” he told NBC Sports. “And I can only imagine how much this would have impacted myself and my mom growing up.”

Jayson went on to share that he and his mother grew up with very little financial education, so he had to learn how to invest and save when he started making money with the NBA.

“We had to ask questions and learn about things,” he added. “And it was always important for me, even when I was younger. I just knew I wanted to give back and help people that looked like me and grew up like me.”

That night, he took on the Brooklyn Nets and helped his team earn a 118-110 victory by scoring 41 points. Following the win, he walked over to greet Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson, who was sitting courtside. Russell’s step-son, Future Zahir, gushed over Jayson, so Jayson pulled off his jersey, signed it, and handed it to Future.

“I gave my jersey to Russell Wilson and Ciara‘s son,” Jayson Tatum said during a post-game interview. “He said he was a big fan, so I gave it to him.”

When Jayson handed Future the green game-worn jersey, Future said thank you while literally jumping for joy.

“When he started jumping up and down,” a fan wrote with crying emojis under an X video that caught the moment.

“Priceless, a child’s excitement. Pure joy!” added another.
