NBA Legend Makes Former Teacher’s Dying Wish Come True with One Final FaceTime Call

Michael Jordan

No matter how old we are, we can always remember our favorite teachers. Those men and women who not only imparted textbook knowledge, but who also touched our souls. They made school enjoyable and helped instill a lifelong desire to learn new things. Teaching is more than a career; for some, it’s a vocation that fills their hearts and souls with joy. Ms. Etta, a former teacher at Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina, is nearing the end of her life. She’s currently in hospice care at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, and as her dying wish, she hoped to connect with a former student turned NBA player. But tracking down the Chicago Bulls #23 isn’t easy. Lucky for Ms. Etta, Michael Jordan loved her just as much as she loved him and made her dream come true.

Michael Jordan Had a Sweet FaceTime Call with Ms. Etta

Wendy, a LifeCare social worker, told WECT she received a call from an unknown number after several attempts to reach Michael Jordan. When they answered the call, they could hardly believe their eyes. He asked, “Is this Ms. Etta?”

Staff told WETC the call made Ms. Etta so happy, and Michael Jordan smiled as he shared a sweet conversation with his teacher. It was a moment that will live in everyone’s hearts for a very long time.

“They laughed, reminisced, picked at each other, and shared a moment that brought tears to everyone in the room,” the staff told the news station.

Sometimes in life we forget that even the biggest stars come from the same beginnings ans many of us. They had childhoods with friends, neighbors, and teachers who all impacted them. Ms. Etta was obviously something special to Michael Jordan. We’re so glad he took the time to make her day. Kindness always wins.
