Move Over, Batman. Ripken The Bat Dog Is The Real Star Of The Show!

A black dog carries a baseball bat in his mouth.

Ripken the Bat Dog doesn’t actually play baseball, but he’s still this Minor League team’s MVP! The four-legged member of the Durham Bulls has a very important job. After batters hit the ball, they usually toss their bats aside so that they can start running. Ripken is always there to clean up the discarded equipment!

This famous pooch even has his own TikTok account. According to his bio, Ripken is the “Official Bat Dog for the Durham Bulls.” One hilarious video shows just how serious the canine’s responsibilities truly are. When a player picked up his own bat, the audience started yelling at him until he realized what he’d done wrong. Immediately, the athlete dropped the bat, leaving this job to the professionals. Ripken was there in a flash to do his thing while the crowd cheered him on!

Chewy, an online pet store, commented on the video.

“The crowd knows who the real star is,” they joked.

Although Ripken is loyal to the Durham Bulls, he’s still a good sport when it comes to greeting other teams. He certainly gave NHL players from the Washington Capitols a very warm welcome!
