Miley Cyrus loves all creatures big and small. The Hannah Montana star has long supported animal rescues and adoption efforts. In May 2026, Wags & Walks, an organization with locations in both Los Angeles and Nashville, welcomed its very first tortoise to the rescue. The 20-year-old male Sulcata named Teru needed a home, and Wags & Walks knew just who to call. Miley Cyrus wanted a tortoise, and they knew this was a perfect fit.

Miley Cyrus Adores Her New Tortoise
Wags & Walks explained that as soon as Miley Cyrus heard about the tortoise, she knew that Teru had to join her family.
“When we heard that@mileycyrus was hoping to adopt a tortoise, we knew we had to help make the connection happen. After a little coordination, the stars aligned, and Teru officially found his forever home with Miley,” Wags & Walks shared on Instagram.
The organization added that Teru came to them at a very challenging time, just weeks after its team brought in 29 dogs that all needed help.
“We’re grateful to everyone who supports rescue, chooses adoption, and helps make more second chances possible,” Wags & Walks wrote.
Tish Cyrus, Miley’s mom, chimed in to let everyone know that Teru is doing great. “We absolutely love Teru!!!!” Tish wrote.
One of Miley Cyrus’ fans made an incredible connection when they realized the tortoise’s age.
“Teru was born the same year Hannah came out,” they wrote.
Miley’s involvement with Wags & Walks brought awareness to the organization, which is a win for all animals, as this fan noted, “Seeing Miley give Teru a forever home while also bringing attention to shelter overcrowding makes this even more special. Animals of every kind deserve love, safety, and a second chance.”
