Heath Ledger Michelle Williams

Heath Ledger was just 28 years old when he passed away in 2008. Just a few months before in 2007, he and the father of his daughter, Michelle Williams, split. At just 2, Matilda hardly had a chance to know her father, but her mom keeps his spirit alive for the now 19-year-old young woman.

Dax Shephard invited Michelle to be a guest on his podcast, Armchair Expert, and shared a story about meeting Heath.

“I feel obligated to say that I knew him a little bit when he was getting sober, and I don’t know that I’ve ever fallen in love with somebody so quickly,” Dax, who struggled with sobriety, explained.

“This is one of the most special boys I’ve ever met, and I can feel the weight of the world on him in a very special way that kind of broke my heart,” Dax said of Heath Ledger. “I was very, very sad, and I thought he was just so special.”

Michelle Williams Agreed That Heath Ledger Made An Impact On Those Who Knew Him

“He was so special, so special”, Michelle said. She added their daughter helps keep his spirit alive. “Thank God there’s Matilda.”

“We had a baby. But I suppose maybe it’s a good thing about being young is that you don’t have so much life experience that you can contextualize things,” she explained. “So you’re really just going with the flow.”

Fans loved hearing the interview and about Heath Ledger.

“What a delightful, intelligent, thoughtful, and funny guest. Loved this,” a fan shared.

“The term down-to-earth gets thrown around a lot, but she really comes across that way. Especially considering what an amazing talent she is. Also, what a great voice and speaking style,” this person agreed.

They appreciated the fact that Dax Shephard didn’t push Michelle Williams to talk about Heath Ledger.

“It was clear she wasn’t comfortable talking about Heath, and I love that you didn’t push it,” one wrote.
