Man Who Spent 21 Yrs Behind Bars Reunites With Teacher Who Helped Him Through.

Some teachers are just special, and we’re certain Michael Lacey would agree.

Michael hasn’t had it easy over the past few decades, having served 21 years in prison up until his release three years ago. But during that time, there were still moments of goodness and light. One of them was all the time he spent with his GED teacher, Ms. Rice.

Recently, Michael gave Ms. Rice a surprise visit and documented the entire reunion on TikTok.

In a video, he explains that he ran into Ms. Rice’s roommate (and best friend since elementary school) at a photography gig. Together, they came up with a wonderful plan for Michael to show up at Ms. Rice’s doorstep!

As he walks up to her door, the caption on the screen says, “I’m so nervous right now.”

But the minute the door opens, it becomes clear that he had nothing to be worried about.

The sweet teacher immediately exclaims, “Mr. Lacey?” Between fits of laughter, nearly in tears, she adds, “How are you? Well, come in, come in!”

Michael isn’t the first person whose life she has changed! In the video captions, he explains, “[I’ve] seen her help more than 300 inmates get their GED. She never judged any of us. She was a shining light in that dark place.”

The two of them share a hug as Michael beams, enjoying a reunion that was just as joyous and full of love as he had imagined!
