Meteorologist Can’t Hold Back Tears Covering Hurricane Milton In Emotional Display

Mid-August to late October tends to be peak hurricane season for Florida. Between the recent impact of Hurricane Helene and the arrival of Hurricane Milton tonight, it’s clear this year is particularly rough. While word of tonight’s storm has been around for a while, it intensified rapidly. As a result, millions are under evacuation orders. It’s no wonder, then, why so many meteorologists are doing whatever they can to prepare folks for the dangers to come.

One of those meteorologists is John Morales. He is a hurricane specialist for NBC6 Miami. Recently, he was tasked to give a live update on the storm. While doing so, however, John got emotional. So much so, in fact, that he had to briefly pause. This moment of genuine empathy and vulnerability continues to touch viewers from all around the world. “At that moment on television yesterday … I can tell you that it’s angst over the multiplication of extreme weather events and their severity,” John explains, adding, “It’s empathy for future victims because these hurricanes really wreck lives and take lives.”

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest news on Hurricane Milton, you’re likely not surprised by John getting emotional. As of writing this article, it has been downgraded to a Category 4 storm. Even still, the destruction is expected to be devastating, and potentially one of the most destructive on record.
