“Perfection Is Not The Goal.” Woman Loses 130 Lbs By Making A Few Simple Changes.

Change is difficult for all of us.

Meghan Lenss of Moreno Valley, California, experienced this when she graduated from college and found herself in an unhealthy place. She was about 300 pounds and hadn’t found a sustainable way to lose weight – until she started small.

In 2017, she teamed up with her friend Chris, who was pre-diabetic and needed to lose weight. This time, she was determined to make a lasting change, so she simply cut out fast food, which she’d been eating on a daily basis.

At one point, she also tried sticking to 1,000-1,200 calories a day, but she quickly realized that only left her feeling hungry. That’s when she “found calculators online and realized I needed to be eating more to fuel myself.”

Once she discovered the appropriate amount of food for her body, Meghan added in exercise. At first, she focused on cardio, and by working out an hour a day, she reached her goal weight in 2018. But she still didn’t feel like she was taking the best approach.

So she incorporated weight and circuit training into her workouts and gained some weight back – because she was building muscle. The healthier body she had became a “combined result of not obsessing about cardio … and being less hard on myself in general.”

It’s been three years since Meghan made her pact with Chris, and she’s lost 130 pounds. In that time, she started an Instagram account to keep herself motivated and encourage people in similar situations.

With their support, she recognized when she was fixating on her weight too much and adjusted her mindset.

“I realized that perfection is not the goal,” she said. “I’m not willing to starve myself to make the scale say something different.”

Meghan has never been healthier, both mentally and physically, and her journey is one we can all relate to. It just goes to show that anyone can achieve their goals when they start small.
