Meet Noodle, The Precious 13-Yr-Old Pug Giving Millions A Lesson In Self-Care.

Have you checked to see if today is a bones day?

If that sentence made absolutely no sense, don’t worry – it’s a question asked during a game TikTok user Jonathan Graziano created with his dog named Noodle, and we’re more than happy to give you all of the details.

But before we go over the game itself, here’s what you need to know about Noodle: he’s an adorable 13 year old pug who loves being lazy whenever he can. So much so, in fact, that Jonathan often has a difficult time getting him to move a single inch.

When this happens, no matter how much he tries to pick Noodle up, he’ll simply just flop back down, almost as if he has no bones. But this sweet boy is a bit older, and he deserves to have lazy days, so Jonathan started to create a game out of trying to get him to sit up every morning as a way to gage how Noodle is feeling that day.

Jonathan started sharing their morning ritual on TikTok and, before long, what started out as a super cute game to see if Noodle is having a lazy day turned into a game with a positive message on taking care of yourself.

“People started using it as a forecast for how their day was going to go and I leaned into it,” Jonathan said. “We all need a little positivity right now.”

In other words, a day where Noodle has “no bones” is a sign that you should take it easy. But on a day where he does have bones, you’re supposed to take a chance on something big!

Jonathan began posting those videos August 2021, and in just two months, Noodle has over 3 million followers, many of whom check in daily for the bones forecast with just as much urgency as they would for the weather. At first, “no bones” days got a bad reputation for being a sign that it was going to be a bad day, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“We really need to change the narrative on a no-bones day,” Jonathan said. “So a bones day is a day where you have to go after your ambition … a no-bones day is a day where you have permission to wear soft clothes, self-care, take a bath.”

Bones or No Bones is a silly game, but for millions across the world, it’s also a reminder to be kinder to ourselves, even on days where we aren’t capable of accomplishing everything we’d like to do.

“It’s been overwhelming. Again, it’s been so positive,” Jonathan said. “I get mentions from people who say that it was a ‘bones day’ so they decided to propose to their partner. They put a down payment on their house. A woman the other day said it was a ‘bones day,’ so she bought a lotto ticket and won half a million dollars.”

With this newfound fame, Jonathan is also hoping that Noodle will inspire others to consider adopting older dogs who often get looked over.

“He’s the light of my life,” Jonathan said, “and to share him with people is really, really special.”
