Lauren is the human face behind the Jesse James the Hiking Ferret account on TikTok. After some time off following a severe roll-over vehicle accident, Lauren and Jesse are continuing their adventurous RV life. Lauren is now an amputee, but that doesn’t seem to be slowing her down much. Lauren talks about the accident in a pinned TikTok video, explaining what happened a year ago. After several surgeries and learning how to walk again, Lauren and Jesse are back to living the good life.
But why, exactly, did Lauren name her pet after a famous criminal? There is a video about that, too! You see, ferrets are notorious thieves. They will steal anything that strikes their fancy. Rather than naming him Bandit like so many other ferret owners, Lauren got creative. It makes sense to us!
Jesse James has his very own little trailer. Lauren teases him about “Living his best trailer trash life,” but he looks pretty cozy in his home away from home. It’s good that he has his own space to relax and play.
When they aren’t hiking, Lauren and Jesse spend quite a bit of time floating around on an inflatable kayak. Because safety comes first, Jesse wears a unique, ferret-sized life vest/harness made just for him by Lauren. Should anything happen while they are out for a float, Jesse will be safe. As she explains in this video, ferrets can sometimes be unpredictable.
Lauren relates their adventures on TikTok, and the two have a wonderful time. Jesse, the hiking ferret, goes faster than Lauren, but it’s all good. She is still having some balance challenges and getting accustomed to her prosthetic leg, but it’s all part of the adventure!
The two seem to be an excellent match. Jesse James the hiking ferret, and Lauren, the patient amputee, will continue to hike, camp, boat, and travel together for as long as possible.
