Service members make sacrifices for the good of their country all the time, even when it takes a toll on them.
Matthew Buhrke was stationed at the Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma, where he was fortunate enough to be with his wife and son every day. But he still went long periods of time without seeing the rest of his family, and he missed them.

No one understood how tough the distance was on him more than his wife. That’s why she found a perfect way to brighten his spirits for his 30th birthday in 2017.
“I wanted to put together a surprise to make it extra special,” she said. “His brother put together a video of old pictures and personal messages from the family for him to watch when he got home from work.”

In a clip posted online, we see Buhrke watching the video with his son beside him. Having not seen his relatives in over a year, Buhrke is deeply touched by their sweet words of love and encouragement.
Little does he know there’s an even better surprise waiting for him. His wife tells him to look inside a bedroom for his second present, where he finds his mom and siblings!

Pulling away in shock, Buhrke can’t help but break down as he realizes the people he loves most are together again. Then they all gather for a much-needed hug!
