Just because Tannah and Luke Zancanaro are married doesn’t mean they have to do everything together.
The pair from Sydney, Australia were both launching successful singing careers before they met and fell in love. Now that they’ve tied the knot, they’re still determined to accomplish their goals on and off the stage, starting with their recent audition for “The Voice Australia.”

This wasn’t the first time the two entered a national singing competition, but it was the first time they did one alone. Back in 2015, the lovebirds auditioned together for “The X Factor Australia,” but this year they decided to pursue their individual style – hopefully with help from celebrity judges Delta Goodrem, Boy George, Kelly Rowland, and Guy Sebastian.
“We sing so much together it’s kind of nice to show us as separate artists as well as a duo because we are able to do both,” Tannah explained. “We don’t make each other.”

During the blind audition, Luke stepped out first to sing “Skin” by Rag’n’Bone Man. Tannah was too nervous to watch her husband perform, but she needn’t have worried.
Just moments into Luke’s performance, all four judges turned their chairs around to indicate they were open to coaching the talented young musician. Boy George seemed particularly excited about Luke’s voice, quipping, “We’re all going to say we can do better than the other one, and that’s true obviously in my case.”

The judges fought hard to get Luke on their team, but in the end, he chose Delta because of their shared upbringing in Sydney. The mere fact that he got to choose at all blew his mind!
“It’s pretty surreal,” he said. “You have these industry pros that have been around for years and years … and to have all four of them turn, trying to pitch for you… I would have loved to have chosen all of them.”
Then it was Tannah’s turn. Luke stood with their family offstage, watching with bated breath to see how she’d do.

She performed “Heroes” by David Bowie and got off to a bit of a rocky start because she was nervous. But soon enough, the coaches recognized the raw talent in her voice. By the end of her song, all four judges had turned around for her as well!
As soon as she finished, Luke rushed onstage to give her a big hug. “Is that your boo?” Kelly asked. The coaches were surprised but thrilled to find out the two talented individuals are a couple.

Then all the judges pleaded their cases once more. Ultimately, Tannah went with the one who had the most personal influence on her. After all, the very first CD she played in her Walkman was by Guy Sebastian! And so Tannah became the first competitor to join the new coach’s team!

Of course, now that Luke and Tannah are contestants, they’ll compete against one another, but they’re confident that won’t lead to any conflict offstage. “We’re just carrying the Zancanaro name,” Luke said. “Whoever can take it further and show Australia who we are as a couple and what we do, then that’s awesome.”
