Parenting is one of the most important jobs out there. After all, moms and dads are responsible for raising tiny humans and giving them the skills they need to become capable adults. It’s not easy, but it is incredibly rewarding.
That’s why Mark Arrington of Florida takes every opportunity to turn his children’s experiences into life lessons. He does such a great job that he has thousands of strangers cheering for him online!
Mark is passionate about teaching his kids the value of hard work and explaining that nothing comes for free.
So when Markell, his 11-year-old son, asked for a new Xbox to replace his broken one, Mark agreed – on one condition. He had to help out!
The next day, they both went to Mark’s rental property, where Markell spent hours helping his dad install new flooring.
By the time they finished, Markell was exhausted, but he had definitely earned his new Xbox!
This isn’t the first time Mark has taught his son a new skill. He regularly enlists Markell for help on various projects, including repairing a fence and an AC unit.
“I make sure to be there for my kids in every way possible and make sure that they have all the essentials to be successful in life,” he told Bored Panda.
Of course, their father-son bonding isn’t all work and no play. They enjoy building model cars together!
“One thing for sure, he’ll know how to maintain his home, make money, and his wife will not have to worry about him not being handy around the house,” Mark wrote on Facebook. “She’ll be like, ‘Babe, the AC ain’t working,’ and he’ll be like, ‘Don’t worry about it, don’t worry about it, sweetheart, I got it.'”
When Mark shared this story in a Facebook post, he had no idea how much it would resonate with other parents!
People around the world are praising him for not only teaching his son responsibility, but also for making memories that Markell will always cherish!
