Maria Vega and her husband moved to San Francisco, California, from Colombia about four years ago. A lot has happened since then, most notably the COVID-19 pandemic that forced us all to stay closer to home than we normally would. In 2022, many travel restrictions lifted, and Maria was finally able to arrange a flight for her husband’s grandmother to visit them from Colombia. She decided to keep it a secret so she could surprise him on his birthday.
This grandmother raised Maria’s husband, and the two of them are incredibly close. After not seeing each other for several years, her husband couldn’t believe his eyes when he spotted his beloved abuela sitting in his kitchen! You can actually feel the love between them as they embrace.
