For the fourteen years before she passed away, Rick and Lil Glombowski spent every evening watching the sun set outside of their Lakeland, Florida retirement home.
The couple was married for 65 years. In that time, their love only deepened as they welcomed children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to their family. They loved to travel, and they always found time to hold hands while watching the sunset no matter where they went in the world.
Sadly, Lil passed away in 2022, leaving 85-year-old Rick alone for the first time in decades. At first, Rick could barely even look at the brilliant sunset over the golf course near his home because it was too painful to think about the loss of his wife. Then, he remembered how much Lil loved sunsets, and how she always encouraged him to take photos of them when they were together.
Rick decided to start taking pictures every single night. Now, he hops into his golf cart and captures the red, orange, and purple glow of the sky each evening, and he estimates he’s taken more than 100,000 pictures over the years!
