When the deadly Los Angeles wildfires broke out earlier this month, residents didn’t have long to get to safety. In turn, folks did their best to grab their most valued belongings, their pets included. But not everyone was home when the fires started. This made rescuing pets quite literally impossible for some. But thanks to the bravery of firefighters, dogs like Casey Colvin’s pets were still saved.

When the fires started, Casey was far from home. When he heard what was happening, he did everything he could to get back in time for his dogs. But by the time he got there, he was no longer able to access his home due to roadblocks. Needless to say, he was absolutely devastated. Little did he know, however, that a nearby firefighter was determined to rescue the two dogs inside his home.

Soon after the firefighter arrived, he was able to wrangle one of the pups. This one was named Tika. But the white blonde Pomeranian, Oreo, was nowhere to be seen. But Casey didn’t give up hope that quickly. Posters were hung to raise awareness of the missing dog. Plus, efforts were made to locate Oreo via his tracker.

Oreo was missing a whole five days after the fires began. But at the end of those five days, Casey and Oreo were finally reunited! But that’s not the only emotional reunion that took place…

Firefighter Brent Pascua had technically already met Casey. But their brief interaction took place right after Tika was saved, meaning Casey was still quite distraught. So, once both of his pups were safely returned to him, Casey wanted to thank Brent in person for what he had done.

During their reunion, Casey was quick to give Brent a hug. During that heartwarming meeting, Casey excitedly told Oreo, who was with them, “This guy saved your life!”

“When I first met you, I was in the middle of crisis, I was in the middle of a firestorm,” Casey told Brent. “My dogs would have died if not for you.”
