Levi Mayhew was born with Zellweger spectrum, a genetic condition that doctors say will take his life in the next few years. Levi has always wanted to go to Disney World, so The Make-A-Wish Foundation recently approached the 6-year-old to try and make his dreams come true.

Tragically, according to Levi’s mom, the little guy has already started to lose mobility. He cannot walk, talk, or sit up on his own and is quickly losing his eyesight. But instead of giving up on the trip, Levi decided to give his wish to someone else… his best friend Emma.
As Levi’s health deteriorated, “Emma was one of the few people who could bring him genuine joy,”Levi’s mom Rebecca told Indiana’s Reporter-Times. “They had attended the same school at the time of Levi’s diagnosis,”she said. “Since finding out about his condition, Emma has written Levi letters of encouragement and has asked her friends to do the same.â€
Rebecca coordinated a party to surprise Emma with the Disney adventure her son had transferred to his friend.
“The party was completely a surprise to Emma,”Rebecca said. “When she came into the restaurant, she saw all of her friends and family and was seemingly confused until she saw Levi.â€
Emma ran over to Levi, grabbed his hand and held it like she’d never let go. When the time came to reveal the big surprise, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
Though Levi couldn’t go with Emma and her family, Emma came up with a clever way to include him in the adventure. She made a colour cutout of Levi and took him with her wherever she went, even on the rides at Disney World!

With the help of her parents, Emma made a scrapbook for Levi and gave it to him when they returned home.

Though Rebecca is heartbroken for her little boy, she was so grateful to be able to give back to Emma who made her son’s life brighter in every way.

“It felt so good to give back to this little girl. Emma has given so much to us without even realizing it,”Rebecca said. “It’s a very warm feeling to know that another child loves and cares so much for your child, especially while facing the challenges stacked against us.â€
What an incredible friendship!
