Loyal Dog Who Never Left His Injured Buddy’s Side Has Sweetest Reunion After Rescue.

Dogs are known for their loyalty, and that loyalty extends beyond just human relationships.

Lola’s Lucky Day is a nonprofit animal rescue that saves homeless and abandoned animals in Houston and Dallas, Texas areas. These animals are then given medical attention and adopted into loving homes. When they shared a plea for help locating two dogs from the side of the road, fosters Samantha Zimmer and George Dix hopped in the car to help.

After driving around for a while, they spotted a little black dog sitting right on the road. They figure he’d been there for at least six hours, and when they got closer they saw why he refused to budge. His friend, a larger mixed breed, had been hit by a car and was badly injured. That dog, who they named Matthew, was lying in a pool of water in the ditch. His friend, who they called Corey, had been trying to get attention and help!

Samantha and George got Corey on a leash, then George carried poor Matthew to the car. They brought him to the animal ER nearby, where he was treated for multiple serious injuries.

When Matthew was finally ready to leave the hospital, Samantha and George made sure his best friend was in the car, ready to greet him. A video shows the dog being wheeled to the car on a hospital gurney, then placed gently into the back of the SUV. Inside, Corey is resting on his bed when he sees his buddy. Matthew’s tail starts thumping the second he sees Corey, and the two share the sweetest nose boop.

“Matthew was so excited to see Corey,” George said. “The moment he realized it was his bud Corey, he started wagging his tail. He wanted to get up and closer to Corey, so he was scooting. We had to get Matthew to sit down and relax. Eventually, they both settled in for a nap for the car ride to Matthew’s foster home.”

Matthew is still recovering in his foster home, but he’s doing so much better and getting stronger every day. Corey also has some health problems and will need some time to recover. They’re in separate foster families for now, but the rescue hopes they’ll be adopted together. After all, it’s not every day that you find a friend this loyal!

Watch the video below to see Matthew back on his feet, and don’t forget to share.
