It all started with a surprise holiday to Hamilton Island, then a surprise picnic at Watson's Bay (the place of our first date), and then waking up to letters – more on this below. The reason for all of this is because I am very difficult to surprise (somehow I find out about them very easily!) and Tim wanted to catch me off guard when the actual proposal happened. So, Tim and I have always written letters to each other as a way of expressing our love. It wasn’t like we were far away from each other, we just really liked the idea of having our hearts poured out in the form of paper so we have tangible memories to look back to. Little did I know that his letters to me were perfectly planned for this special day since we started dating. I woke up on the morning of 16th December with a letter next to me instructing me to get dressed and to only come out when I’m fully ready. As soon as I opened the door, I found rose petals and candles everywhere – my heart skipped a beat and I knew it was coming! He greeted me with the cheekiest smile as I walked down the stairs. He sat me down in the living room with all the letters that he had written to me on the table. We read them out one by one, reliving the memories of our dating times. After we read all of them, he then carefully arranged the letters and then asked me to look at them. To my disbelief, the first letter of each hand-written letter spelt out “Will you marry me?”... I instantly burst out in tears of joy as my mind could not comprehend how someone could love me so much. Someone that was so genuine, thoughtful and romantic. The first letter that he wrote was within a week of us dating, which meant that he knew from the start of our relationship that we would be where we are today. I am so thankful that God sent my now husband into my life – to protect, care and love me just as He does.
In October 2016, the couple tied the knot in a beautiful wedding in Sydney, Australia. “We were friends for three and a half years before we started dating and I liked her that entire time,” said Tim. Looks like his years of patiently waiting-- and planning the perfect proposal-- finally paid off! Share to spread some love today!
