Over-Dramatic College Student Abandoned During Fall Break, Sings “Les Mis” Parody About Empty Campus.

For some college students, fall break means staying on campus, enjoying the long weekend from the comfort of one’s dorm, or maybe spending some time in the library getting ahead on school work. For students at South Carolina’s Furman University, fall break means going home or on a trip– leaving campus completely deserted… Or at least that’s how it felt to one student, Sophomore Theatre major Lizzie Dockery, when Furman’s fall break rolled around and she found herself totally alone in her dorm.

So what does a Theatre major do when she finds herself stranded and lonely, with plenty of time on her hands? She writes a Les Mis parody, of course!

The video below– originally intended only for Lizzie’s mom (to guilt her for not flying Lizzie home over the break)– is a parody of the classic, tragic Les Misérables number “On My Own.”

In the song, Lizzie sings about the perils of navigating Furman’s maze-like “Lakeside” housing without her roomie; she finds the “Trone Zone” (the student center) completely void of life; and she swears that Furman’s signature Bell Tower is still pealing… but who the heck could be ringing it?!

After her mom posted the video to Facebook, Lizzie received some teasing for the dramatics, but she posted the below photos– of the empty parking lot and dining hall– as justification for her whining!
