Loki And Lola Fell In Love With The Kid Next Door. Oh, Did We Mention They’re Dogs?

Loki and Lola

You never know when cupid’s arrow will hit you squarely in the heart.

A few months ago, Amber Monte moved into a new home near Surrey, England. She brought along her pets, including a golden retriever named Lola, who brings home the kibble as a doggy model. Almost immediately after settling in, Amber noticed that Lola was extremely interested in the “boy next door.”

Amber’s lawn is divided from her neighbor’s lot by a tall privacy fence, but that didn’t stop Lola from sniffing out Loki, a Staffordshire terrier who lives next door. Every time the dogs were out at the same time, they’d jump up against their sides of the fence to get a better look at one another.

Since Lola is a bit on the shy side, Amber thought they’d become neighbor friends, but that’s about it. She has a history of getting scared around larger dogs, yet she didn’t seem concerned about her new pal Loki. In fact, a month after they moved in, Amber noticed Lola was actually asking to go out just to see her new “boyfriend!”

“When we let her out, the first thing she’ll do is jump up at the fence to see if Loki is out,” Amber said. “If Loki isn’t out, she’ll sit and wait by the fence.”

The canine love story blossomed from there! Loki found a way to sneak past the fence so he could spend more time with his girlfriend. Amber says they now open the back door to find him sitting there waiting for Lola to emerge, but don’t worry; Loki’s humans are A-OK with the new arrangement.

These days Loki and Lola hang out in their backyards every chance they get!

“They are so excited to see each other when they play – there’s lots of jumping around, running, lots of kissing!” said Amber. “They are inseparable when they are together.”

Sounds like this love story was really meant to be! No star-crossed lovers here; just two neighbors who recognized their soul mates at first sniff.
