Little Autistic Boy’s Pepper Plant Gets Stolen, So Local Cop Steps In To Save The Day.

They say police are here to “protect and serve,” but oftentimes they go well above and beyond to help their communities.

Bailee Pultz’s four-year-old autistic son had been working hard to cultivate a tiny pepper sprout growing in a pot in his North Bend, Oregon home. Each day he’d tend to the little plant, giving it plenty of water and sunlight and delighting in its slow progress. Then, one day, the little boy went outside and discovered that his beloved pepper plant was gone.

Someone had come along and stolen the child’s plant. Why someone would steal a pepper plant is beyond our comprehension, but the fact remained that the boy was heartbroken.

“Don’t worry mommy and daddy, the cops will catch him and bring my peppers back,” the child told his parents at bedtime that night.

In spite of his sadness, he had such faith in his local police department that his parents decided to make absolutely sure things turned out as they should for their disheartened little boy.

Their neighbor went to the store and bought a brand new pepper plant, and Bailee and her husband called the North Bend Police Department and explained their situation. Within ten minutes, Officer Chris Rule arrived on the scene to restore the little boy’s faith in the power of good cops, not to mention our faith in humanity.

Officer Rule delivered the plant to the child, who was amazed at how much his little sproutlings had grown in just one day. He had no idea that this was a brand new plant, all he knew was that justice had been served!

Bailee later shared a few snapshots of Officer Rule and her son, along with the story of how the North Bend PD answered their call and provided yet another small but valuable service to their community that day.

Thank you, Officer Rule, and thank you to all of the officers out there who perform all of the tasks, both large and small, that make our world just a little bit better.

Please share this story to thank a police officer for all that they do!
