Lily Collins Shares “A Funny Thing” About Her Genesis Memories

Lily Collins Genesis

Genesis entertained millions of music fans for six decades. They released 15 studio albums and six live albums. Former Genesis frontman Phil Collins brought a signature vocal sound to the band that is unlike anyone else in the business. And while hits like That’s All, Invisible Touch, and I Can’t Dance were the soundtrack to many of our lives, not everyone has the same memories.

Phil’s daughter, Lily Collins, says she didn’t even know the band’s songs were real until she was an adult. The Emily In Paris Star sat down with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live and made the shocking revelation.

Andy Wanted To Know Lily Collin’s Favorite Genesis Song

Lily Collins got a bit flustered when Andy Cohen asked which Genesis song was her favorite.

“You know, the funny thing is that I have these memories as a kid of songs that I don’t know if they’re actually real,” she told Andy. “Because they were like, in my head, as I was maybe in the womb.”

She said she remembered songs from her childhood but didn’t realize they were real until she heard them live as an adult.

“But then when I went to the first Genesis concert that I actually remembered as an adult, there were songs that came on that I went, ‘That’s a real song?! I thought that was just a melody in my head.'”

When she thinks about her favorite song from Phil Collin’s solo career, Lily gave a nod to In the Air Tonight, but she admitted there are so many great songs by her dad.

Lilly shared a Father’s Day post on Instagram post in 2023 with a sweet message to her dad,

“Like father, like daughter. Happy Father’s Day Dad! No one uses chopsticks or eats a burger quite like you. I can only hope to one day look as cool and chic. Thank you for all the years of laughs, lessons, and love. In life and in food. I love you so so so much…”
