When a baby hummingbird fell from her nest, Mom was willing to do anything to nurse her little one back to health. That said, as luck would have it, she didn’t have to do it all alone. Mom built her nest in Steve Adams’ backyard. When he saw the baby hummingbird on the ground, he didn’t hesitate to help. Minutes later, Mom showed up.

Needing time to heal, a temporary nest was made for the baby. Steve added a heating pad, something she seemed to love. Check out this tiny little bird in the video below. This video was taken just after Steve had rescued her from the fall she took.

The first night was the scariest. While it seemed the baby was alright, there was no guarantee she’d make it through the night… but she did! With time, she started to regain her strength. In fact, she started to fly again by the very next day! She got a bit winded, though, so it wasn’t time to leave just yet.

Soon enough, however, that moment finally arrived. While Steve and his daughter ran an errand, Mom and her baby, who they named Cutie, flew away to their new home. This was a bittersweet moment, of course. But Steve says that it was “an honor to care for this little one.” Plus, it seems that Mom said “thank you” in her own way, as seen in the video below.

“Plant some flowers for them! Animals remember kindness. They’ll be back another day,” someone suggests in the comments, another person adding, “Hang a feeder close! They will come back regularly! We have several that come to our yard.”
Luckily, Steve had already that last piece of advice — the feeders are up and ready for Cutie and Mom to return anytime they like!
