In response to a fast-growing social media campaign called “Toy Like Me” thousands all around the world have realized the need to better represent children with disabilities both in television and with toys.

Of the 150,000,000 disabled children worldwide, only a small percentage know what it’s like to feel accepted… but with a toybox full of toys “just like them,” the process becomes a little easier.
A Brittish toy company, Makies, has taken up the banner of disabled children all around the world. The company uses 3d printing to recreate a child’s specific disability, and the result is too beautiful for words.

They are working on bigger projects and have been able to create dolls with hearing/walking aids and even replicate facial birthmarks on the dolls.

Makies hopes that their efforts will bring a more positive representation for kids with disabilities and help them feel included in society. The “beauty standards” most of us end up chasing after are impossible them to measure up to, but now these kids have the right examples to chase after.
