It takes incredible courage to get up on stage and sing in front of thousands of people. Even seasoned performers get the jitters now and again, but a true artist will turn all that emotion into something worth remembering.
During the 2014 X Factor UK, contestant Andrea Faustini walked on stage and announced his song choice… “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” by Whitney Houston. The judges were understandably skeptical. Whitney Houston was known for her intensely powerful vocal ability and songwriting.
It only took a moment for Faustini to explain that Houston’s song held some really important emotions from the singer’s past. Here’s how he responded when asked about his song choice:
“The lyrics… [are] about me. I didn’t know my own strength. I didn’t know I could be so strong and powerful on stage.”
With that explanation, Faustini prepared himself for the music to start. You could sense the anticipation in the room as he stood there, waiting on his destiny.
When he began singing the powerful song, the emotion poured out and left everyone in awe. The passion in his performance even had one of his competitors nearly in tears. It was safe to say The X Factor had found another diamond in the ruff! Check out Faustini’s powerful performance below.
