Steven Spielberg is the genius behind some of the greatest movies of our time. If it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t have Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, or Hook. Steven is widely known in Hollywood as both a great person to work with and a brilliant human being. But even the smartest people make mistakes, and Josh O’Connor recently exposed one of Steven’s funniest guffaws. The Disclosure Day star told the Associated Press about a text mix-up from Steven Spielberg that still has him laughing.

Stephen Spielberg Sent Josh O’Connor a Very Late-Night Text
Josh O’Connor told the AP he and Steven were working on a scene for Disclosure Day, whose plot is tightly under wraps, but he was struggling.
“I was halfway through the shoot and we had a scene coming up, which is quite an emotional scene and I was struggling with it. I was in my hotel room trying to prep it, as Steven does so brilliantly, and it’s extraordinary he’s so available to talk about these things,” Josh explained.
He and Steven worked on the scene together, and Josh was feeling a bit better. Then late one night, he received a rather cryptic text that changed everything.
The door is on the latch, just push,” the text read. Josh said that lit a fire in him that made so much sense. And it made so much sense.
“The character’s kind of got all this emotion, it’s built up and it’s like a door on the latch and you just push and it all comes out and it’s an emotional release,” Josh told AP.
When he thanked Steven Spielberg on set the next day for the text, the iconic director looked very confused.
“I said, ‘The text about ‘the door on the latch just push’ it’s incredible.’ And he laughed and said that that text was supposed to be for his wife,” Josh explained. “It became a very big joke for all of us. But it did unlock the scene for me, so, fair play.”
