Jordan Walker’s Dad Has Sweetest Reaction to Son’s Home Run Derby Win

Jordan Walker

July 13, 2026, is a day that will go down in baseball history for the St. Louis Cardinals. For the first time in franchise history, a Red Bird won Major League Baseball’s Home Run Derby. Many thought the Philadelphia Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber would have home-field advantage at Citizens Bank Park, but things didn’t go his way. Instead, 24-year-old Cardinal Jordan Walker won the night with 31 total home runs. He hit six consecutive homers during his last at-bat, ultimately defeating Kyle Schwarber. He may have won the event and $1 million, but Jordan Walker’s parents are the ones we’re all talking about.

Jordan Walker’s Dad Leaped from His Seat

While many Cardinal baseball fans love seeing Jordan make history for the Cards, no one was more excited than his family. The camera was on Derek Walker during his son’s last at bat, and when he cracked that ball, Derek could hardly contain himself.

“He was awesome today,” his dad cheered in a post-game interview. “I just loved everything about it. Just his attitude, his approach, the smoothness of swing. Looked like his dad. But yeah, he just did a great job. We’re so proud of him.

Derek said that his son’s love for baseball grew as he grew, and he knew he was destined for great things.

“We traveled with it all the time. He ate, slept, thought baseball, and he just kept progressing. He just kept getting better and better and working on his craft. And again, we can’t be more proud.”

As Jordan Walker’s final hit was officially deemed the winning home run, the fans around Derek Walker cheered, “Jordan’s Dad” in the most wholesome way. What a night to remember.
