When Jamie Rust of Essex, England, found out about the competition to recreate dishes from chain restaurants, he couldn’t resist giving it a try! As it turns out, the 30-year-old dad was the perfect person to do so! He was tasked with mimicking the McDonald’s menu, and he did not disappoint.
He documented his epic quest on Instagram. His first step was to conduct research… by going to a local McDonald’s and trying a bunch of food! Then he sweet-talked his way into getting some of their packaging so his recreations would look more authentic.
With that, he was ready to jump right in! As he worked his magic on the grill, he began showing off classics like the Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, McMuffin, and, of course, those delicious golden french fries.
By the end of his journey, he had covered 99 percent of the menu – and left everyone amazed by how well it turned out! In fact, he said most of his dishes were better than the originals “because of the fresh ingredients and seasonings.â€
To top it all off, he put together a Happy Meal toy that looked just like him at the grill!
His work was so spot-on that Altons BBQ World declared him to be the winner of the competition! They threw a party to celebrate everyone’s fun projects, and Jamie showed up in his very own McDonald’s uniform.
Now, he’s gearing up for round two of the competition. While he doesn’t know which restaurants he will have to choose from, we’re certain he’ll put the same level of passion into his next batch of food!
We’re still not sure how he pulled off this level of detail, which just makes everything more impressive. Way to go, Jamie!
