“It’s Like My Child’s Hugging Me.” Teammates Comfort Late Teen’s Mom In Sweetest Way.

Jennifer Dehart

It has been over a year since Jennifer Dehart of Ansley, Nebraska lost her 14-year-old son, Ely, in a car accident. The family is getting by thanks to the love and support of their friends and family, but the wound is still fresh and will likely never heal completely. Jennifer takes solace in sharing videos and pictures of her son on social media. She recently shared a video of Ely’s basketball team paying tribute to their lost friend, and it’s moving millions of people to tears.

In the video, we see the players run one-by-one to the sideline so they can give Jennifer a big hug. It’s a simple gesture, but one that means so much.

“Every time we go to their games, they’ll hunt me down and give me a hug,”Jennifer explained. “It truly means the world to me, because it’s the best feeling. Ely would hug me every day and it’s hard not having him here to do that, so when they hug me, it’s like my child is hugging me through them.â€

Watch the video above to see Jennifer receiving the love of her community, and don’t forget to share.
