Many people when they think of an upcoming birthday, they automatically think of a birthday cake. However, this was not the case for Abraham and James Walker… until recently.

Abraham and James grew up in Sierra Leone and had a rough upbringing. They lived on the streets, until they eventually moved to an orphanage. But it wasn’t until last fall that their lives changed forever: They got adopted by a loving family that lives near Charlotte, North Carolina. Ever since, their life has been full of adventures and beautiful firsts.

From the first time they walked into their beautiful home, to getting their first presents from Santa Claus, “everything is magic to them,” according to their mom Jamie.

But one of the most recent “magical” moments that has captured the attention of thousands of social media users is when Abraham gets his very own (and first) birthday cake.

“This was the moment I knew he’d been waiting for,” Jamie wrote. “His very first birthday cake. One for just him. One with his name on it.”

Jamie posted a video of the precious moment where you can see Abraham literally shocked as she walks in with his birthday cake. Then, with tears running down his face, he rushes to his dad’s arms to give him a warm and long hug.

“When I see the cake, I thought that is the most beautifulest thing I’ve ever seen,” Abraham said. “It’s not just a birthday cake. It’s a blessing cake.”

His siblings were also present during this exciting moment, including James, who also got his very first cake when his birthday came weeks later.

Considering James’ more “serious” personality, Jamie didn’t think he would have a very expressive reaction like his brother.

But oh, you bet she was wrong.

“The most intense hug I’ve ever had,” Jamie wrote. “I could feel his joy, his gratitude, his hope, his love, his everything. It was all there wrapped around me.”

Watching these siblings’ reactions to getting their birthday cakes shows us the importance of being grateful for all the “little” but beautiful things in our lives.

Let’s all try to be more grateful and enjoy the simple things in life! Because at the end of the day, those “simple” moments, are what make this life so beautiful and worth it.

We love that Abraham and James have such a loving family, and we are so excited for what they will accomplish in their future!
