Internet Rallies Behind Blind ‘Can Man’ Caught Rummaging Through Trash To Provide For Granddaughters.

Memphis, Tennessee native Matt White, had an encounter at his local grocery store back in June that took the internet by storm.  While he was shopping in the store, White was approached by 16-year-old Chauncy Jones. Jones kindly asked if he could help White carry his groceries, in exchange for some glazed donuts. After hearing a little bit of his story, White was overcome with compassion for the young man and decided to buy him a full cart of groceries.

In the months that followed, White started a crowd funding campaign to get Jones and his disabled mother out of the dangerous neighborhood where they lived and furnish their new house. It was wildly successful, raising over $100,000 for a family that desperately needed it.

And now White is at it again.

White’s recent experience with Chauncy reminded him of an old friend. White met 65-year-old Jimmy Kibbler  purely by chance when his car nearly ran out of gas on the way to a voice lesson. He pulled into a gas station in “the rougher part” of Memphis and Kibbler’s smile made him stop to say hello.

Kibbler, who from all appearances was homeless, has spent the last 25 years collecting cans to supplement his disability income. The Vietnam veteran told White that he has a home, but every cent he makes goes to support his daughters and four grandaughters on their way towards a better life.

White asked for the man’s phone number and has put together several care packages for Kibbler and his family… but White’s experience with Chauncy inspired him to do even more.

White started a GoFundMe account for Kibbler that quickly wracked up over $25,000 for the veteran and his family. “I’ve never met a man of so much faith,”White said. “His faith in God is how he sees the world.â€

It would seem Kibbler’s faith paid off in a big way. Check out the video below.
