Indiana Man Changes Bullied Senior Citizen’s Life

Mo Riles

Mo Riles worked hard his entire life. Like many people, he’s hit some rough patches, but he always tries to keep a smile on his face. For many years, Mo, who lives in South Bend, Indiana, drove a beat-up Chevrolet pick-up truck. But this wasn’t any old Chevy, Mo’s truck looked like it was being held together with duct tape. He became a bit of a local celebrity, and people made a point of posting on social media whenever they saw Mo roll through town. Sure, many of them made fun, but that truck was all Mo had. That is, until a stranger came to the rescue.

A Local Detail Shop Owner Wanted to Help Mo Riles

“I just thought, there’s got to be something more to why this truck looks like this,” Colin Crowel told CBS News. “I just put two and two together that this is the person’s only means of transition.”

Instead of poking fun at Mo Riles, Colin created a GoFundMe page to help him. With the help of approximately 500 donors, Colin raised $22,000.

“That’s the part that knocked me over, man,” Mo said. “Here’s a human being seeing another human being struggle. And I’m like, wow, what did I do to deserve this?”

Mo needed something more reliable to help him get around town and to his appointments, and Colin helped make that happen. He recently took his old truck for one last spin and parked it at a local Chevy dealer. Mo left that day in a shiny 2019 Chevy Silverado.

“This whole thing is not about me. It’s about this community bonding together. God is good,” Mo told CBS News.

Kindness, love, and faith really can change the world. Mo Riles is one very blessed man.
