Traditional wedding vows often include the line, “in sickness, and in health.” It may seem like a far-away notion when you’re young and in love, but it’s a sentiment that often becomes very important as we continue down the road of life. Celina Broyles’ parents are the perfect example of this vow. Back in November, 2022, Celina shared a video of her father surprising her mother with flowers and a present on their 42nd wedding anniversary. We can’t help but choke up when we hear the story behind the sweet video!
Both of Celina’s parents were fighting cancer. Her father had been very sick, and most days he didn’t have the energy to do very much, so her mother assumed he’d forgotten their special day. When she saw him coming into the living room with his gifts, she burst into tears. Their tenderness with one another is heart-melting!
“Together we have it all,” Celina wrote. “I’m so thankful for my parents. We grew up poor and didn’t know it because of the LOVE we had growing up. They got married at 18yrs old and had all five of us at 26. Mom and Dad we appreciate the sacrifices, and giving up so much for us. This is what you call love!”
The moment Celina’s parents shared together is even more poignant knowing that her dad passed away this spring. We’re so glad the adoring couple got to celebrate their anniversary one last time.
