From the moment we hear the first few beats of (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life, we’re transported back to Kellermans in the summer of 1963. Dirty Dancing was a sensation in 1987, and it introduced us to Johnny Castle and Frances “Baby” Houseman. The pair performed one of the most iconic dances in movie history shortly after Johnny Castle grabbed his partner from her family’s table and said, “Nobody puts Baby in the corner.”

Ilona Maher Played Tribute to the Dance Classic On “DWTS”
During Oscars Night on Dancing With The Stars on September 24, Ilona and her partner Alan Bernstein danced a sensational salsa to (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life. In the movie, Johnny and Baby, played by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, work hours perfecting a lift that proves to be the grand finale of the movie. Ilona and Alan said, “Hold my glass,” and performed three lifts throughout their dance sequence.
Ilona is an Olympic bronze medalist in Rugby with incredible strength. First, Alan lifted Ilona in a quick flip. Then, she lifted him for the same move. The pair continued to move their fast feet to the beat and ended the dance with an impressive lift with Ilona perched on Alan’s shoulder. The pair both had huge smiles on their face, clearly impressed by the way the dance ended.
The judges gave the team a sold 21 for the week.
Fans loved Ilona and Alan.
Someone wrote on YouTube, “She looks so much more comfortable this week than last week. LOVE HER.”
This person also enjoyed their performance, “That was fun! Good for her and Alan for incorporating humor into the routine, but also for showing that women can be strong and beautiful.”
