An Instagrammer named Kate shared a sweet video of her grandparents, who have been together for 70 years. They were separated for a time, and their family arranged to bring Eugene and Irene back together for a special date. Even though they were much older and seemed a bit fragile, their love was still very strong and a reminder of how short even the longest lives truly are.

Spending 70 Years Together Made the Couple Very Happy

According to Kate, her grandparents had a very happy 70 years together. Their relationship served as a reminder to her that true love endures.

“My grandfather passed a few years ago now. My grandma still lives in the house that he built for them upon returning home from WWII. A woman of faith – she often speaks about their next reunion,” Kate wrote. “If I got married tomorrow, 70 years would take me to…110. I think it’s safe to say that the family record is safe with them.”

Kate’s grandparents’ story went viral, and people felt very endeared to the couple.

“Jokes on you I actually had already planned on crying today,” someone wrote.

Others shared stories of their own grandparents’ love.

“My grandparents were married for 63 years and passed 6 months apart. They never missed an anniversary without each other. I miss them dearly,” a sweet comment reads.

“Can’t watch without crying. My dad with dementia would curl up in my mom’s lap on the couch. He may not have known who she was but he knew he loved her. I’m glad this pair still have each other,” another person added.

How lucky this couple was to have 70 years together. We firmly believe they’ll meet again and spend eternity holding hands.
