How Taylor Swift Helped A Dying Mother And Her Daughter Share “The Best Day.”

“Choose joy.” It sounds simple enough, but how many times have you tried to maintain a joyful perspective in the face of heartbreaking setbacks? According to Kelsey Fry, joy is a choice that we make every day. And she ought to know!

Kelsey recently posted an emotional video on TikTok that has received hundreds of thousands of likes. Throughout the video, she can be seen dancing and singing along to the Taylor Swift song “The Best Day”. Kelsey’s mother, Christie Geraty, joins in as she is serenaded by her loving daughter. The video finally culminates in a mother and daughter embrace, punctuated with Kelsey’s repeated kisses.

By way of explanation, this message appears on the screen: “I know a lot of people don’t understand the Taylor Swift obsession, but her lyrics have gotten me through every season of my life, including this last Christmas with my mama.”

It turns out that preparing to lose her mother to cancer is just one of the many hardships Kelsey has had to endure. In an interview with Good Morning America, she referred to a list of tragic events that have transpired over the past few years, including the death of her 16-year-old brother, Liam, and devastating news about her baby boy, Shepherd. The youngest of her three children, Shepherd was diagnosed with a rare and fatal liver disease called biliary atresia.

Somehow, in between the inevitable grief, Kelsey has chosen to live by the words permanently tattooed on her arm: “Choose Joy.” The launch of a nonprofit charity called Shepherd’s Little Sheep has even allowed Kelsey to provide other parents with a “glimpse of joy” in dark times. And treasured moments with loved ones help Kelsey to keep going, despite the pain.

Watch this inspiring moment of joy, and remember to share with a friend!
