His Rendition Of ‘Hallelujah’ Is So Powerful The Judge Is In Disbelief.

judge stunned by inspiring performance

When you can get Simon Cowell to call your performance “one of the most brilliant auditions I’ve ever heard” then you are doing something right!

Meet Jeff Gutt who appeared on Season 2 of the X Factor (2012). In this audition he boldly took on Leonard Cohen’s epic masterpiece “Hallelujah.”

Many revere this song as one that must be performed by the book, in a pure Cohen-like way. But 36-yr-old Gutt took a risk, put a unique spin on it, and ends up knocking it out of the park with his powerful vocals.

Our favorite part, though, has to be at the end when his precious son runs to greet him on stage. Try to tell me you didn’t say “awwww” when you saw it!

Gutt’s performance reminds of a powerful principle to enable a fuller life: risk taking.  Former President Jimmy Carter once said, “Go out on a limb. That’s where the fruit is.” We couldn’t agree more. Whether at work, with a prospective romance, or a new social setting…it’s good to take a risk and go for the fruit.
