High School Student Casually Breaks A World Record On Her Lunch Break.

A teenage girl poses with a basketball.

Lunchtime is a great opportunity to grab some food, catch up with friends, and, if you’re high schooler Maddison Neale, break a world record! This 17-year-old just scored 9 half-court shots in a row without missing the basket. Xu Changqing set this record in 2020 with 8 consecutive shots. According to Guinness World Records, Maddison beat his score with only minutes left before her break ended. You read that right, this high schooler broke a basketball world record… on her lunch break!

Although the teen girl made it look effortless, it actually took her a lot of practice to be able to land 9 shots back to back. Maddison was partially inspired to undertake the feat due to an ankle injury. Since she couldn’t actually play basketball while recovering, she just focused on shooting baskets.

“The recovery took much longer than I expected, however, I never gave up,” she said.
