When you live in Alaska, the odds are you’re going to come across some majestic wildlife. According to the World Population Review, the state has approximately 175,000 moose wandering the enormous land. Bethany Mitchell, an Alaskan real estate agent, has lived in Alaska for more than four decades. She thought she’d seen it all until a recent trip put a baby moose in her path. She pulled up on what she thought was a much smaller animal in the road but soon realized it was a moose calf that needed help. The mama moose stood nearby, which gave Bethany a bit of pause. She wasn’t sure what to do.

“For a second, I debated stopping and moving him myself, but I had no clue how much that little guy weighed, and if you’ve spent any time around moose, you know Mama Moose doesn’t exactly appreciate unsolicited childcare. Thankfully, a man in a truck stopped, picked up the calf, and carried him safely across to his mom while traffic patiently waited,” she wrote on Instagram.
Seeing the Mama Moose and Her Baby Made Bethany Happy
Bethany explained that seeing a mama moose and her baby is one of the most special parts of living up north.
“That’s one of the things I love most about living here. No matter how long you’ve called Alaska home, there’s always something new to see, a story you’ve never heard, or a moment that reminds you this place still plays by its own rules,” she added.
Followers loved watching the locals helping the mama moose reunite with her baby.
“I AM AMAZED that that man carried a whole baby moose under one arm and climbed over the guard rail like wut,” someone wrote.
“Aww! Oh my goodness! I’m glad that sweet man stepped in!” Another person added.
Nature is a magical place. It’s incredible to think we’re all here sharing the same space.
