One great-grandpa was more than happy to read a book to his great-grandchild, but “Baby Shark” threw him for a bit of a loop! See, this elderly man had never heard the viral song, so he had no idea what it was supposed to sound like. Still, he approached the reading material with admirable enthusiasm! Other family members giggled in the background of this hilarious video as Great-Grandpa attempted to read “Baby Shark” without the melody.
If you’re not familiar with the song, each verse ends with “doo doo doo doo doo doo.” These lines make sense when you hear them in the context of the tune, but they sound ridiculous when you try to read them as words. Great-grandpa couldn’t resist adding some of his own commentary while reciting “Baby Shark.”
“Dumb sharks, they all say the same thing,” he said, prompting more laughter from the other relatives. “People make this up and they buy it.”
Commenters on TikTok were delighted by Great-grandpa’s reading of “Baby Shark” as well as his scathing review of its literary merit!
“This is so wholesome,” wrote one user.
“The fact the baby is still very happy and paying attention,” added another.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter whether Great-grandpa was reading “Baby Shark” correctly. This family obviously enjoyed a wonderful bonding moment, and that’s what really counts!
